More "poptastic" pop-up exhibitions (the Lane Crawford campaigns are getting to me, sigh).
I'm confident to assume that many of you have come across this iconic bookworm bookshelf by Kartell. (if not, I beg you to take note) Next time you're in IFC, make sure to venture into the depth of Level 2 and visit the brain child behind this beautifully innovative display. Israeli born U.K. based Ron Arad is certainly among the most influential designer of our time, he will be showcasing his ingenious, humorous, versatile, border-pushing yet practical but always beautiful furniture in Hong Kong.
It is sincerely unusual to have such an internationally recognised name showcasing his work, especially underneath a shopping mall escalator.
Most astounding is his new work, Oh, the Farmer and the Cowman Should Be Friends. If I was from America and live in a 4 story house, this bookshelf would be mine

Pop up Vitamin Water Shop made to good use, local talent promotion tonight!
Supporting home grown U.K. dipped Philip Chu of Ground Zero, crude social satire, obnoxious, daring, playful and perpetually forward, much love that Vitamin water is embracing a little bit of controversy. A few snapshots of his signatures:
This unusual subject is turning up in conversations after conversations as I hear friends getting invitation to Flavour Tripping Parties and parents buying them in bags to entertain their guests. What exactly is all of this hype? Eyespy investigates.
A small pear-like fruit that can turn anything sour to sweet after a bite, Miracle Berry's effect is a temporary taste bud tweak, lasting up to 2 hours. A lemon turns candy-like, a beer into sugary sweet, vinegar becomes sherry. Freeze dried version available here
A Willy Wonka Adventure in itself, this will most definitely be my next dinner party novelty.
Recently, I find experience companies with their pretty little voucher boxes popping up in bookstores, billboards and magazines. A glimpse of the oh so right now experience gift via Spoilt.com.hk. This particular one - Aphrodisiac 101 from Love True Food, promising a cooking class that stirs the hormones for couples. Enticing.
The draw - visiting the creme de la creme of estates - The Harilela Mansion. Our lovely host Lakshmi with the heavy weight last name was very welcoming. We were given a mini tour of the mansion that houses 3 generations of Harilelas. One word - Decadent!
First we were told to Touch, Feel and Inhale - Blindfold Test of different turn-on food ingredients that will be incorporated into our cooking demonstration. We were also fed with lots and lots of wine.
FIrst course - Seared scallops with a dash of fresh parsley - apparently makes you hornier than oysters and an impressive addition to my take-home recipes
The side - a pictorial display of a potato bake with artichoke - thinly sliced potatoes soaked in water with heavy cream is an ultimate comfort food. Always a hit with the boys
Before snap of the main course - We got our fingers dirty while stuffing and rubbing the rack of lamb with Rosemary, Lavender and Garlic. The outcome? Pink centered perfection.
And of course, dessert - Melting of the cacao - Chocolate truffles lightly dusted with shredded coconut and almond. Surprisingly hassle free and delicious
Eat as we Go. The rose-y red romance of our table setting. What a great way to spend an alternative date night!Happily drunk and belly full of food by the end of the evening. Two thumbs up!
20-year-old Korean supermodel Daul Kim was found dead in her Paris apartment this morning. Her existential proses and dark ramblings from her blog: I Like To Fork Myself reflects a struggle against depression. Her last post was dedicated to Jim Rivers - 'I Go Deep' with a chilling sign-off: "best track forever". Heart wrenching to see that emptiness kills a soul. Rest in Peace young one. You will be missed.
From her blog:
how can you be smart
when its love
i already accepted that i relate to nothing
past is heavy but past is past and
i can only try to understand
too much self importance
luxury of time
perhaps just series of bad events which were only beautiful
Urban culture vultures, I demand you to congregate at Schoeni Art Gallery today. The exhibition 3-2-1 Solstice will showcase artwork and prints from 10 urban and graphic artists from UK, USA and Hong Kong. Line up include: Bill London (UK), Cept (UK), David Bray (UK), Friendly Liu (HK), Graphic Airlines (HK), Jon Burgerman (UK), L1ES ONE (HK), Phil Ashcroft (UK), Swoon (USA), Vesna Parchet (UK)
Graphic Airlines, recognised by the ubiquitous puffy face caricatures, will be doing a bit of live art performance in the gallery. Walked passed them earlier (see above) in the midst of rapid spray painting.
Took a peek of this particularly good looking addition to the otherwise hum-drum of Elgin St. Posto Pubblico will apparently serve non-fussy organic Italian comfort food, same owner as Wagyu and Solas. Interesting. Set like the late 1800s New York Little Italy Banco with its cavernous interior, bare naked brick walls, island bar with hanging steel miner lights, sunken leather booths and vintage accents, the ambience looks promising. One of the only few bar slash restaurants in the neighbourhood. Hopefully, the food lives up to its good looks. Opening on Nov 24th (Tue). Photos here
