Just when we have a month odd left to the end of the year, I had a +push pause+ moment in time, what have I done this year? What have I accomplished? What could I have done better? The whirlwind thoughts went on and I decided to open up a trust-worthy spreadsheet and compile a to-do list for 2011.
"Be More Creative" was one, and I thought, hey, I had a mini conversation about taking IT classes at HKU with a friend, well, design course beckons as well, maybe I can sign up for a few classes at CSM in London. Oh to follow the foot-steps of Alexander McQueen.
Oh great, 2nd down the list, "Save Money", the bank account needs hibernation, guess I'll have to succumb to Hong Kong. Then, as I was typing the search words, Goggle spits out, www.smd.hk
An outlet of Saint Martins in Hong Kong? No way! This is wonderful news, quality international education just around the corner. Oh what a perfect world.
I was caught off guard though, the site looks rough around the edges with a particular mainlander flavour but it still has those little *** adorning the logo. Ha, maybe I should browze it through the original site and enroll. And look what I've found? A WARNING - The school is a knock-off! And when you think the Chinese can copy practically anything, they one-up us with this. A knock-off institution!
Hong Kong Saint Martins College of Design
The Council has been made aware of an organisation offering educational services in Hong Kong and other parts of China under the name “Hong Kong Saint Martins College of Design”. It has a website at www.smd.hk.
We have been asked to warn prospective students that, despite its name and the appearance of its website, the “Hong Kong Saint Martins” organisation is entirely unconnected with the well-known British institution Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, which is a constituent College of University of the Arts London and has a presence in both Hong Kong and mainland China.
Those wishing to contact the local representatives of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and University of the Arts London are advised to visit the University’s website.
